Considering a 2018 X1 w/ AWD
I test drove a new 2018 X1 w/AWD yesterday and was not impressed with the "road noise" and "rough" ride. I also have test driven a Toyota RAV4, Mutsubishi CX-3, and a Jeep Compass. The X1 was better than any of these 3 but I still expected better. As a reference point, I have owned a very low mileage 1995 BMWA 525i in great condition for the last 15 years. I consider the ride and noise better in my 23 year old 525i than the new X1. How can this be? Makes me wonder if I am just better off keeping my 525i. I wonder if the difference is that the X1 is a sub-compact with shorter wheel base while my older 525i is considered by many to be a compact. Anyway as X1 owners did you have concerns in regard to X1 ride comfort and street noise and if so did you just adjust to it over time? Thank you.

What you test drove is a F48 transverse engine X1 based on a Mini Cooper platform. This is a E84 forum ( pre 2016) which is allot closer to your 5 series than a F48, but in no way a 5 series. A X3 or X5 might be more comparable.
