MOST turbo cars will give you inconsistent performance due to the heat if you beat on them for too long in a single outing.

IMHO that's on area where the s55 equipped f80 shines. The cooling system is very effective. 100f ambient temps and 30 min+ sessions no problem (for comparison, my n54 z435 and n55 f30 335 (without additional radiator) went to limp mode in the first few laps.

S65 has gotten high oil temp issues too, but agreed it's a great car and best of the e90 range.

The other e9x I think are worthwhile to consider for are e92 335is and e90 6mt 328
