First Wash - Curse You Side Mirrors!

Today I spent 2 hours washing my new to me 2013 s28. Went around 5 time with a towel...absolutely no spots. mission accomplie. perfect.

now, let's take for a little spin to the market so we can show it off. ... whu..whut the...no...no....NOOOOOOOOOO....drip...ping....wat er...side...mirrors......AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

got out of the car...spots.

I thought I was doing so good, micro fiber clothe...with an 'e'.

I guess I'm going to have to invest in an air blower.

I got one of these for $35 expressly for the purpose of drying the trickier parts of the car (front bumper/grill, wheels, mirrors). It works great, saves a ton of time and hassle and helps get that OCD perfect car wash we're looking for.

BTDTBTTS......

Simple trick: dry completely, then fold in the mirrors with the button on the driver's door. When they fold in the remaining water releases.......

Air compressor, air hose, dust/blow nozzle ... saw the trick at a car wash and copied their act. You get water trapped all over the X-1 - rear hatch glass is another example.

I use an Air Force Blaster. Great air pressure and it warms the ambient temperature 20 degrees. It's sold for motorcycles but works Great for cars too.

i never did this but few people have drilled tiny pinhole in the bottom of the mirror housing to allow water to drip out.

I usually wash in the evening and just let it sit until the next day. When I drive away it is totally dry. But I will try the trick of folding the mirrors in next time.

The guys with the blowers...
What about the noise? Don't you drive your neighbours mad?

It literally takes about 5 minutes total time to blow-dry every part that needs it. Once a week. Not a problem. (I wash my cars in the garage, anyway, so they don't even hear it, not like it would matter though).

I feel like with every car water gets trapped in the mirror. But yes, folding the mirrors upward helps with mine.
