That depends. Most fuel measurements are done with a single driver, no load.
With a heavy load and more hills, the smaller engine has to struggle harder and uses far more fuel.
But overall, yes, for most people the 28i and 28s are going to be more fuel efficient than the 35i. Now, a 35d would have been nice...

I agree, any diesel would be nice, of course so would a manual.

Interesting early observation, but at 1,200 miles, our N55 X1 is already getting better mileage than our previous N54 135i, with more weight, the same transmission and awd. On my wife's torturous 1.8 mile commute, she's getting 16.8 mpg vs the norm of about 15.5 with her 135i.

Our one highway drive though only returned 25.8 mpg, while the 135i usually got about 29 mpg on the same drive, albeit faster and with less speed variation than I used while the X1 was still green, at about 400-800 miles for that trip.

The image of my 5'3" wife on my 59cm bike would be kinda funny.

I believe at least one member has. Maybe Beamerboi? Anyway, I need to get my cruise control serviced, and I intend to have it changed while I'm there. It was actually suppose to be done when I picked up the car, but the service tech that does it had a family emergency. I'll report back when done.

The manual did post out using the ASS will wear out other parts sooner for the exchange of few savings on gas. In the long term it might cost you much more if those worn out parts are not covered by warranty any more. For me I would only use it at the signal light stop.

Ok, so here's a question... what happens if you have it turned off, drive up to an intersection, just miss the yellow and now have to stop.
You've screeched to a stop, decide this next green will take forever, so you hit the button to turn ASS back on. Does your car shut off while your sitting there?
