BMWhat has anyone tired it?
As the title says, has anyone here tired it? I have tried the Lite version with my LYL Elm327 WIFI dongel and it keeps telling me that the type of car/ecu doesn't support coding over wifi, which seems a bit odd because acording to BMWhat site it should work with cars newer than 2007...

I think iPhone version can only use the WiFi adapter, not Bluetooth. Waiting to convince the wife that it's a worthwhile investment before buying the app :-D

If you are going to buy an official Carly adapter - save 5 bucks
If you are planning to buy any Carly adapter (from ivini-tech or Amazon) use this code for 5 bucks off:
Y49N5K This code can be entered on www.ivini-tech.de/en in the shopping cart, when making an order for adapters, 5€ will be deducted from the shopping cart value right away. For users ordering through Amazon UK or US, please contact them first regarding your voucher code before the adapter purchase via trainer@mycarly.com and they will give you a code that works on Amazon. ***** FULL DISCLOSURE **** As a "Carly Trainer" I do get a kickback which I mostly use to buy adapters. As an aside, they are starting to support BMW bikes as well for any of you that have a beemer, too! |

They say:
"For users ordering through Amazon UK or US, please contact Carly first with your voucher code before the adapter purchase via trainer@mycarly.com and they will give you a code that works on Amazon." They have been relatively responsive via that email address, and by that I mean a day or so. |

I've used it with iphone and the carly OBS II adpater. Works great, easy to set up and code. I've removed the attention warning, allowed dvd play back on drive, removed seat belt warnings, and added speedo to the center. all easy to do, and it backs up the defaults.

Is there a trick to get it to work? I can get it to read from the car no issue using either my bluetooth dondle or the cable but I can't get it to write. Regardless of if the car is on or off.
I've not had issues before on my e90 or z4m. I did reach out to them but no response yet.

it is a gen 1 e84, 2012. The software attempted to code the car but in the end it would just say could not code try again.
I did eventually get it to work on my second attempt a few days later. I did nothing differently and it just accepted the coding. I did email the developer who responded back to me to do a session and send it to them but I didn't end up needing to. maybe they updated something in their program or the car just wanted to behave that day. thank you for following up! I appreciate it.

Make sure if you have a JB4 installed to put it on MAP 0 otherwise they will battle each other. Sometimes it will work other times it will cause your car to jitter because the JB4 auto delete error codes feature will beat the Carly each time. Otherwise it might just be an issue with your phone crashing while loading the app, that also happens from time to time. |

I recently picked up the Carly (BMWhat) bluetooth adapter v2.
Works great, takes a while to connect. Make sure you aren't paired with your car at the same time as this will cause headaches. You don't actually connect to the bluetooth dongle till the app is started, so don't worry if it doesn't connect and pair like a usual bluetooth device. Be sure to test with the free demo app before purchase just to see if it works. I also recommend running your car while doing coding, help keep the voltage stable. Coded out my warning screens and enabled remember last set for auto start/stop. After coding changes you have to turn off the engine and restart, which means you have to dig back through the menu's and read from the car again, not a pain by any means but takes a few more seconds. One thing to note, there are a lot of in app purchases required to get full functionality. This is noted on their website, although poorly. So keep in mind for full app, all unlock+dongle your looking at ~160. Which isn't too bad, I came from AUDI/VW and most diagnostic tools come in around 250 range, but much more full featured. IIRC: iDrive settings: $15 (warning screens) Battery: $15 (swapping battery reset/register) Advanced Service: $7.50 (advanced service reset) |

Not much frankly, reset service intervals (can do this anyhow via BC button IIRC), and check remaining service life according to their website.
Honestly I haven't dug much into that part yet, just bought everything at once just in case. |

Advanced service is , Brakes Fluids, Oil Engine service interval, Nothing too crucial me thinks, the better option is the warning screen, battery change reset and DVD in motion options. They are always adding to their app seems like an update weekly, although I suspect they have moved on to F series. |
