Replacing turbo solenoid with manual boost
Hi! I have a BMW X1.
I noticed the engine malfunction light turned on. I opened the hood and there was no solenoid. I was going to simply add one but there was no electric wire to plug in. I just found i can bypass this whole process by connecting a hose that enter the engine cover into a manual booster then that to the wastegate. I found the line that goes from actuator back to air pump. But cant figure out how to connect the manual boost to the wastegate. Any help? Please! |

First thing: scan the car and find out why your check engine light is on.
Second, why are you trying to add a manual boost controller? This will cause the check engine light to be on all the time. |

It seems like there are 2 types of configurations. I got lost.
There is a version that comes with a solenoid and a non electric wastegate. And there is a version that is connected directed to an electric actuator. I just realized that a part of it rusts and is recalled. Seems like a super easy repair now! I still wonder, what about that second opening on the engine cover... should it be closed since not connected to solenoid? or open? |
