Good looking combination I think!!

There is very little clearance between the inside of the wheel rim and the caliper!! maybe 5-8mm max!! 16 inch wheels need not apply!

The factory offset of an 8 inch wheel is 30et, these are 29et so they stick out a whopping 1 additional mm no real difference from stock.

Rear wheel look along the body, nicely centred in the opening, versus the stock 9 inch rear wheel in the next photo

Stock 9 inch rear look, remember this is a wider wheel with 255 rubber!!

Overall I am very happy Great fit and finish, they bolt right on with provided bolts (which are a bit longer than stock, due to the bolt depth in the wheel), they are hub centric at 72.5mm centre bore, they are EH2+ runflat tire compatible, my factory centre caps popped right in and they look like a factory wheel!!

In fact the 18" version of these mounted up with equal size summer tires all around would be a very nice looking and handling upgrade for those without the sport package!
Am I mistaken? Those sottozero are 94H... wouldn't that speed rating a bit too low?

Yes, they are H rated, so somehow I am going to have to keep my speed below 210 km/h this winter

Around here that should be pretty easy, considering the cops will take your car at 150 km/h ..........

Hey guys, there's a free ship code for 1010tires.
Use code: REDFLAGDEALS1010 when checkout.
========
*UPDATE*
It's not totally free, in my case, ship to Quebec, it's only free upto 85$
And they charge extra 30 something extra for it.
But I also realize they don't charge PST, only QST... which is great

I also got the Salernos for my X1.

In Germany they are available in 17x7,5 ET34 (identical dimensions to the original BMW wheels).

I would have ordered those myself for sure, but unfortunately they were not available in that size here (that I could find anyway)

Still quite happy with the fit, they are just a few mm more aggressive in the wheel wells.

Will this configuration fit our X1?

Micheline X-ice2, 225/50R17
and
RTX Berlin, 17x8, 35mm offset. http://www.clicktire.com/product.php...ttribute=42711

I've check the clearance we got on the front strut with the original wheels, there ain't much clearance, like 10mm max.

According to the offset calculator, http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12
If I uses this setup, then it will become, "7mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 5mm"

Am I going too agressive on the front strut side?
Spacer needed?

Should I stick with 17 by 7.5? with 34mm or less?

Canadian eh, I noticed that tire rack will give you 4 centering ring if you order the rim as if 2009 528i. Do you have to use those ring when you mount your wheel to the X1?

No centering rings shipped or required the salerno is hub centric to BMW. They only make it in a BMW version at Rial. You do get new slightly longer wheel bolts, as the hole depth is different, but they bolt right on.

Are you sure you are reading the Tirerack site right?

Ordered, and received in 4 days, the same set-up as Canadian Eh. Supper happy with them and the price was nearly half of anything local. As for the centering rings, I didn't see anything about them when I ordered and none were shipped.

Thanks for the info Canadian Eh! Saved me a pile of cash.

New 17in wheels do not fit

New to the forum, I have been lurking for a while! Well, I might have made a big mistake. My brand new Beyern Five 17x8J ET30 do not fit my X1 with sport package. The brake callipers are too big and do not clear the well. How could this be possible!!!!

Does it mean that I must keep 18" for winter wheels as well? If this is the case, let's tell everyone so they do not do the same booboo I made.

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks
JY

That sucks you should had got the 18 inch downgrading to 17 because of the size of the caliper

Can you return your wheels?

I can see why they would not fit, based on the picture. Due to the design of the wheel, they do not drop back lower behind the spokes but look to be raised where the wheel weights are. What is the offset on those wheels?

As per my earlier posts the clearance on my 17's was tight. Try looking for 17's that fit on 335i's, which have even larger brakes.

For what it is worth, there is no difference between the size of the brakes with or without the sport package from the factory, so 17's fit, but clearly not these.

Good luck!!

17in wheel do not fit.

As per my previous post, I learned at my expense that not all 17" wheels fits the X1 - Take care about this!!! Wheel specifications like offset, bolt circle diameter, width are not enough. My wheel Beyern Five are 17x8J Offset 30 5x120 hub 72.56mm look like a perfect match for the X1. However, the X1 has a very tight rim wall - brake calliper clearance for 17in wheel. Hence you must make sure about the center of the hub to top of brake calliper distance. This is the most "unpublished" important information if you want to fit aftermarket 17" rims on the X1. rsracing.com has a very good explanation. I hope this is usefull for you guys.

ifocus, I can feel your pain! When I ordered my X1 I was hoping to re-use my winter wheel from my 328. Same as what you did, I compared all the bolt pattern, offset, wheel width, etc and had confident that it would fit. Turned out the diameter inside my wheel was 15.5". And the X1 needs 16" to clear the front caliper!

At the end I ordered a new set of tire and wheel. Will need to sell my beloved old wheels to someone else

Have you try using a 5mm spacer?? Remember to use it with a 5mm longer bolt.

MSW Type 22

The Rial Salerno looks great on X1. But for the fellows who want a smaller price tag, here is how the X1 looks on the 17 inch MSW Type 22 with Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 215/55R17.

The MSW Type 22 is able to clear the front brake caliper. See the picture below. I am happy with what I get!

Cleared the front brake caliper:
