How Far After ---
Just wondering, how far after E and the --- have you guys driven in your X1?
I was talking to a co-worker today about it, and they frequently drive 30+ miles after their gas light comes on. Made me wonder about the X1 and anyone here how far you've gone. |

I don't disagree with you. I know I've reached the --- before. And I think maybe I went 10 miles beyond that, but thats as far as I ever braved it.. But I was curious, or wondering if there was anything published about the --- and how much fuel is actually left at that point. |

I try not to get anywhere near that level of low. Normally, I top after when I'm about half a tank low; 3/4 empty at most.

We were told to leave 1/4 or less fuel in our X1 Euro delivery. I left approx 1/8, and when I got it home. It was on E, so drove straight to station 1 mile away. It took 16.2 or so on a 16.9 taNK. Whew!
If that light and fuel ding ever go off, I'm straight to station FOR SURE. I shoot for a 12 gallon fillup. Easier on fuel pump. The ding is set at 2.5 gallons left. |

Once in a while it is ok. I won't make a habit out of it. It may strain your hpfp. I've learned to fear hpfp issues thanks to the e90 crowd!

Sometimes I get a ding at 50 miles to empty, which is at about 1/8. And it'll go away. Based on my experience this morning, I would say the first warning ding that goes on and then off there is about 2.5 gallons left. I was thinking about it, and i purposely didn't get gas on the way home last night, instead, I got it when I was almost at work this morning, and when the car said I had 10 miles to empty the car took 15.75 gallons. So, for reference for anyone wondering in the future, with 10 miles to empty, you have about 1 gallon of fuel left. Most of the information I could find is the 2014 X1 has a 16.6 gallon tank. |

I try to keep it above 1/4 of a tank.
*IF* the warning light comes on, I hit the gas station immediately. I see no logic behind pushing the boundaries - even ignoring the hpfp implications. |
