Goodyear Efficient Grip come with the 18' M Sport so that's what I have. Not particularly great handling but generally a fairly comfortable ride.

Perelli P7 Cinturalto (sp?) on sdrive. Rides a little stiffer than non RFT, but not bad, must be at least 2nd gen. Not very grippy, but I never find A/S tires grippy, with the exception of Michelins. I think the priority w/ these tires is low wear with a rating of 500. Summer performance tires are what this car needs.

Pirelli P7's on our xDrive 35i too. They're surprisingly good in terms of ride quality, but miles are way too low to really start pushing them. Our 135i came on the terrible Bridgestones, which we replaced with Michelin Pilot A/S non RFT's which were okay. We needed a car that could deal with a little snow and ice and at the time my M Coupe was on PS2's and then PSS's.
If Michelin comes out with a newer A/S tire we might try those out, but for now, the stock Pirellis are probably fine. |

Standard European diesel models come with:
Bridgestone SR Dueler HP Sport 225/50R17 94H Continental SR ContiSportContact 2 225/50R17 94H Michelin SR PILOT PRIMACY HP 225/50R17 94H Runflats are optional here, cost around 300 euros more. People who have them say they ride harder and they 'wobble' a bit in snow at low temperatures. Our Michelin SR PILOT PRIMACY HP grip very well but the ride is very uncomfortable. |

By the way, how do you like your m-sport package x-1? Still comfortable as a daily driver with sport suspension and run flats? |

The M Sport is comfortable but I'm used to some pretty stiff rides such as a Mini Clubman S, 2007 X3 with M Sport and a couple E46 m3's. It's on par with my E93 335 with sport package but certainly doesn't handle as sharp but it is a SUV after all. I see where some sites call the tires summer performance and some summer grand touring and that's more accurate. If your worried about it being too stiff or harsh it's not at all.

^^ These, although they are the LS2. Tire Rack surveys basically say they're crap. I'll be putting winter tires on in about a month and then we'll buy some knock off 18s next summer.

For those of you in Canada and elswhere who have driven your X1 in snow, how did your car perform? What types of tires do you have?
Thanks! |

Speaking of snow tires, i just spent a small fortune buying a set of 317 spoke wheels with special order Nokian Hakk R snow/ice tires to go with them. The dealership will marry them up for me. It's a PITA but worth it cause I don't feel the Dunlop performance snow tires that come with the BMW winter package are adequate for serious Vermont winters. The 17 inch will offer slightly greater sidewall height to handle the crud.
I did hear that bmw may offer Blizzacks in a tire package, which would work just fine, though i wasn't able to get em. Last edited by popopine; 09-25-2012 at 10:37 AM.. |

Quick question / Sanity Check: The Msport package doesn't include and brake changes (apparently), so 17"s should fit, right? In other words, I should be able to swap the 19s for 17s when ski season appears (if at all).
