Windows down on return
Hey everyone
Just got my X1 a month ago, and for the first time since I bought the vehical. I returned to find all the windows and the sun roof opened. WTF! I left the vehicle, and locked it with the BMW button on the remote, all the windows were up and, and the sun roof closed. I went into my sons house ( I was no more than 200' from the x1)' only to return 3hours later with all the windows all the way down and the sun roof opened in the up position. Has this happened to anyone else? |

I believe there is a way to open the windows and sunroof with the remote by holding the unlock key. I haven't actually tried this on my X1, but my 2006 X5 had this feature. So if you were pretty close to the car, is it possible the button on your remote got pressed and held while you were inside your son's house? I'm guessing that is most likely the culprit. Maybe you leaned on it while it was in your pocket.

Eric has it figured out. You likely 'butt dialed' your car.
I generally keep my keys on a spring clip attached to a belt loop on my pants. This somewhat reduces the likelihood of pushing buttons by accident. Moon |

I use this function when it's hot outside, as I'm walking up to the car I can put the windows down to let some cool air in and hot air out. It's a good function to have in sunny so cal.

Besides what's already been stated, there is a possibility that you have a problem with a door lock actuator.
In the mean time, make sure that the key fob buttons aren't being depressed by other keys(etc.) on your key ring |

This happened to me too ... scary; but as previously posted, holding down the unlock button will do exactly what you describe. When I walk away from the car, I'm careful not not activate the unlock button in any way, keeping the key out of my pocket until I know I'm well out of range.

Thanks for letting me know about this. Yesterday I held it down and all my windows and sunroof opened. Ready for the drive home. The glass sun roof didn't open all the way though only 3/4's of the way. Does anyone know how to get it to open all the way?

You have to open it from the inside by pressing the button again. It only opens 3/4 because of wind buffeting at higher speeds. It gets loud and annoying
