You can go to this site http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...update_vin.jsp type in the last portion of your VIN and it will give you the most recent software upgrades for your "radio" and bluetooth.
My X1 had to go in for some service about a month ago and when it was there, they updated my NAV software for free. I got the idea that it was a map update, but I am not sure. |

Anyhow, looks like the last update there is from November 15. Either the OP's dealer is very quick and offers a new upgrade before the BMW site does, or they're very slow and offer it five months after the fact. Last edited by Grovsnus; 04-20-2013 at 10:29 AM.. Reason: Date corrected |

Yep, and if you have a high DPI display set correctly, and use a DPI aware browser like gecko, it will cut off early, because the web designer used a fixed pixel height for a frame containing non-fixed size elements. This is a typical beginner's fault in UI design, and not often seen on professional sites.
(What's worse is that this affects a couple of the build configuration pages too, where you might not see all options if they're at the bottom. BMW needs to fire whoever made this and hire competent web designers, cause this elementary mistake may lose them money.) In my case, with 161 DPI, it cuts off after "To do so, all you", and no amount of resizing will get it back because the frame scales with the text. So if it doesn't work, use IE (with automatic compatibility mode for broken sites, which is the default) or some other browser to access it. Or temporarily lower your system DPI setting to a wrong value. But as of present, the latest update, 1006, is from mid November, so unless you got your X1 before then, you might not want to bother. |

I downloaded the update to my thumb drive.... My idrive says unable to find USB. I'm feeling a bit dumb at the moment and the Internet machine hasn't offered any ideas different then what has already been said here.
Is there a DIY for this? Do I need to format the thumb drive? I'm a apple user. Jason |

It should be MSDOS partition, FAT32 format, no larger than 32 GB drive.
Some drives come preformatted as a "superfloppy", i.e. partitionless with a single filesystem. These can not be used unless reformatted. Also, make sure you use the correct USB port, as per the instructions. |
