Any road noise reduction suggestion for X1?

Hi guys I'm quite annoyed by the road noise I get in the cabin specially while driving in rough tarmac. I guess it's the tyre noise as on silky tarmac the noise isn't there or to the extend it's hardly audible. This is a concern as last time I went for long drive most of the road was rough tarmac and that noise was so loud that we had to literally scream to be able to communicate. I have the standard audio system so it couldn't help either. Since I've M package with sports suspension and staggered run-flat 18" wheels, I guess it's more pronounced compared to other available lines esp. than those with square setup 17/18" run-flat wheels and standard suspension.

I'm planning to do something about this road noise as I'm planning to do few more road trips but not quite sure where to begin. I'm looking around for rubberized undercoating with soundproofing and the only one I've found so far is Cyclo Rubberized Undercoating that says it does soundproofing as well. To be honest, this is all I have as a plan. I'm not sure where else this road noise penetrates through. Wondering if installing sound deadening on rear doors and tailgate would make any difference. I'm thinking spraying wheel wells with undercoat with soundproof will help a lot as the X1's wheel well is all plastic and some parts in the front wells are just bare metal. So, any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Link to Cyclo Undercoat.

Car & Driver bitched and moaned about the sports suspension X1 for its harsh ride; the low profile tires may well be your issue.

I have been searching on the internet on this topic and I read that stiffer suspension, low profile, hard and wider tyres contributes to road noise and M package delivers all that quite well Now, I don't want to switch to non RFTs or narrower tyres or do anything to the wheels for that matter at this stage. So, I'm just looking into ways to blocking some of the noise from reaching the cabin.

Tire tread design and compound are going to have MUCH more to do with road noise vs. sidewall height.

OP, replace your tires with something rated highly in the noise department.

I recently switched to non RF tires, and the noise is about half.

I was pretty annoyed by the road noise in the X1 until I got a 2010 Prius for my 35 mile commute. I no longer complain. Plus BSW audio upgrade helps a lot. The Prius' JBL actually sounds decent if it didn't rattle the door panels so badly.

I'm pretty tight for tyre swap n I'm planning to go wider and bigger altogether once the tyres wear out meaning there might be even more road noise to deal with then but that's then.. Now, I'm just looking into ways to reducing noise without swapping tyres. I see X1 is insulated pretty well so what area could be sealed off more for better sound proofing esp. for road noise?

That would work great except that the new supplier they tried furnished sub standard products and they rejected the entire shipment. They are working to resolve the situation and have promised to notify me when they get an acceptable supplier. I'll post here when they notify me.

Ya but that's only to cut out engine noise which is quite minimum in X1 anyway. Anyway, I have my own version installed though didn't find any noticeable difference.

Tires definitely will help, especially non-RFT's. Otherwise a good sound system and the wind direction plays s big part.

@Zee
I recently installed replacement tires on my 28iS. The RF 's went to the landfill. The improvement in ride, handling and noise reduction are phenomenal! !!
I should have done it when the car was delivered.
