Merry Christmas & My first Speeding Ticket!
Well I knew it would happen sooner or later
On my Holiday 12 hr trip up to Tenn. got tag by a laser my radar did detect it but was too late in lowering my speed. 90 in a 70 right after i crossed GA /FLA line. The funny thing about this is I pulled over and knew i was cooked! The officer introduced himself and the ASk " what year is this?" meaning the car.... I said 2013 . He replied X1 I never seen one of these this is a sharp car. LOL of course i tried to get buddy buddy with him and tell him about all my MODS and proceded to show him all the pics of the air filter under the hood and tell him i was trying it out lol he began to ask the size of the motor etc. At this point I thought I surly was going to get a warning......... a few min later.... Could you please sign here! Oh well Then about an hr later my service light came on (yellow) Stayed the night in Atlanta and went to the BMW dealership to get it checked out. drove into service and within 2 min a crowd of service guys were circled my car asking questions and saying Dam! I know im boasting here but what the HELL! Merry Christmas! Drive Safe! PS the light was on due to some sorta air leak I have no clue they reset it and it never came back on...

Sorry to hear about your ticket - I only got one speeding ticket in my life (but that was $1800 and 11 months license suspension). A merry yule to you too, and everybody else here! |

8500 blue it looks like? That's still a good RD but honestly against lidar your only bet are jammers, period, and only if they're legal in your state. Interesting that you got shot in the front but it never notified. What distance does your ticket say he got you at? Over 2,000 feet, under 200 feet? I'm very curious. Lidar beems are 2'-3' at 1,000' so if he aimed low for the plate and at a close distance, it's not suprising you didn't get notified.
They'll shoot for front license first and headlights second (although if you have xenon those are harder for them to get reflections off of for some reason). The X1 has a huge frontal area that will reflect back a lot of IR for the lidar gun, even if you had a black X1, they'd still probably could get you near 2k feet easily. BTW, it's near end of month, they need to get their "points" in, (remember, it's not a quota... *sigh*). Be careful out there! |

Typically the word goes it makes no difference. Only a few Law Enforcement Officers will be swayed one way or another, it's really only your attitude and road conditions that might sway a ticket and only for some officers. If it's a Cobra they'll laugh at you back in their car, if it's a V1, STI+R, or other high end RD they might brag to their coworkers if it was a great shot.
