X1 N20 Charge Pipe

I blew my Charge pipe off finally. (near the throttle) after 5k miles running the Dinan Tune.

Who makes a good Charge pipe for the X1 N20, I only see it for the N55?

The factory plastic seem to have stretch.

I don't think anyone does...you could probably have that covered under Dinan warranty though.

Your welcome sir, let us know how it goes and please do a review. They also offer a catless version but will most likely give you a error code

You know what, I pulled the trigger on that link.
That's a downpipe, not a charge pipe. My apologies..

Charge Pipe

Car is at the dealer now, they are giving me hell over the Dinan Tune. a lot of finger pointing & Blaming. I though Dinan products were covered under the BMW factory warranty? They are indicating the electronic wastage is stuck and leaking Boost.

Has anyone had any problems with BMW Dealers vs Dinan warranty claims.

quick edited, I though if you had a Dinan Tune, and something failed like in my case the electronic wastage, BMW will still warranty it. Im being told that BMW is making their own products and stepping away from Dinan and the warranty claims?????

M-Performance is BMW H. P. parts now.. anyone herd of this?

DINAN is very misleading in there wording...if something breaks as a cause of the DINAN product, DINAN will cover the replacement. NOT BMW warranty.

Garage List
Not ever have I had a problem. Dealer checked my engine light and were going to replace my ER DP with a factory unit because they thought the factory piece had failed. Good thing they called me lol

Charge pipe

Thanks dirtye84,

i'll look into that, got my car back from the dealer, turns out that my wastage is bad.
HERE IS WHAT IT DOES, UNDER HEAVY BOOST, after 3K rpm all you hear from the front is a loud whoosh of air, it will not boost fully. Dealer replaced the charge pipe, did a smoke test and found nothing, no codes are thrown, nothing, it just leaks out through the wastegate.

I do have a rattle coming from the wastage, wondering if I can adjust it. maybe it re adjusted after 10k miles and the wastegate is off.

anyone have any thoughts??

Dealer not wanting to replace it due to the Dinan Tune.

Did you talk to your Dinan installer yet? I'd love to know what they say about all this.

The BMW/Dinan warranty arrangement ended years ago. Now Dinan just agrees to match your factory warranty should BMW not cover something due to one of their parts.

Where did you get it done? At this dealer? If it was, they should absolutely help you with this if they sold it to you as having a warranty when you bought it.

Yea, that's what I said. However, it just doesn't always go smoothly. BMW blames DINAN-DINAN blames BMW.

Dinan vs Warranty

Got it done at a Auto Performance shop just for BMW/ and they are also a Dinan installer. They were the closest to me that "DINAN" recommend, but they are not a dealer, only a tuner/Maintenance/repair shop for BMW. They can not replace warranty stuff. They told me to find another BMW Dealer that still installs Dinan tunes and try them. If not I'm going old school, Vac. Wastegate. w/ DP

This is entirely unacceptable. At this point Dinan should be working with the dealership of your choice to get this fixed. The only reason people pay their ridiculous prices is so that sh*t exactly like this WON'T be an issue. Any interest I may have had in getting a Dinan tune is going out the window based on your experience.

Dinan VS Warranty Problems

YUP, I had the BMS stage 1 tune, and moved to the Dinan because of my Warranty concerns.

Every BMW Dealer in So. Cal that i have talked to, is kind of giving me the impression that it was a bad break up.

the new name is M Performance

anyway I found this cool little add on to the BOV for the X1's

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showt...php?p=18292691

My factory BOV works, just does not hold boost past 3k RPMms, it leaks out...

Unfortunately it sounds like you're working with a poor dealership(s). I have the Dinan tune and just this week I managed to split my charge pipe under heavy acceleration on the highway. Dealership fixed the car and never even brought up the Dinan tune as a potential cause or try to get out of the repair. They just called it a failed part and replaced it. Even had one of their valets bring me my car to work this morning and pick up the loaner.

Contact Dinan and explain what's going on and ask them how best to get it handled so you are not out any money.

Dealerships and how they treat their customers can vary greatly within any brand. In my Cadillac V days the local dealership would try to get out of doing anything if it related to aftermarket mods. One across town was extremely mod friendly and would install and warranty aftermarket mods and work with you. Guess which dealership I went to when I bought the 2nd V. . .
