unlocking doors

Does anyone know if there is a way to program automatic unlocking of all doors when driver's door is opened from the INSIDE? I've set unlocking of all doors when opening driver's door from outside.

It really should be user settable but it is not. That said, it can be via coding at least when the engine is shut off.

Can you expand on the coding? Is this something done by the factory tech?

took me a second to understand your question, I've read that you can code the car to unlock all doors when the engine turns off. (stock, you can have it lock all doors when you start driving)

I haven't done the coding yet myself, but it involves a laptop, special cable, and some research. Don't think the dealer will do it for you. depends on the dealer I suppose.

For now I just set it to NOT lock the doors when I drive.

Since I can't even program the lights in our house, I'm gonna pass on this one.
I'll just have to keep pressing the unlock all door button at the centre console when needed.

Go to your dealer and ask about it. BMW gives you one free coding session at the dealer. My SA told me this numerous times during the purchasing process.

Twix who was your dealer? Mine did not do any coding. In another thread I posted up asking about dealers that did as my dealer would like to know how they integrated it into there service.

BMW has tools to do it. I'd be shocked if your dealer can't code. Try another dealer in the area. As far as I know, they do the coding through their diagnostic equipment.

Dealer is Calgary BMW

I'll ask my dealer again. I know they won't do certain codes that CAN be done. (de-activate start up warning on idrive, and warning on backup cameras,) as its done for legal reasons. at least my dealer wouldn't. maybe they will do more mundane codes.

Safety items like the warning screen I can fully understand why the won't code it out. Unlocking/locking doors, turning lights on, ASS on/off, mirror folding etc can be done at the dealer, free of charge for the first session, after that I believe you pay 1 hour labour.

There is of course that large and obvious button in the centre of the dashboard...once you get used to hitting it before you exit, it's easy.

Configuring your X1 to unlock all doors when entering, and not to lock all the doors when driving, of course avoids the whole need to unlock when exiting too.

I have asked about some coding issues (I'd love to have oil and or coolant temperature) and my dealer looked at me like I fell out of the sky.

Twix, did you try this session? I have tried with BMW gallery and they said that there is no such thing.

If your dealer will do coding, you've hit the jackpot. The vast majority of BMW dealers will NOT do any coding of any sort. I think they should, just like your dealer is offering, but they don't. At least not in the US or Germany.
