Cheap 35i exhaust options

Has anyone ran with the full axle back portion of the exhaust fully removed? Also I have seen a muffler delete done on a 28 but has anyone done it with a 35?

Do a quick search, there's a couple vids of straight-piped X1s.

Honestly, it's either that, or buy a BMWPE or aftermarket 135 axle back, lop of the muffler of both it and your OE axleback, and weld the 135 muffler to the OE axleback pipe.

Guess you could gut the stock one as well.

Another cheap solution to replicate a BMW PE...

You only have to cut the center sliver to get access, not the whole side as he did.

I am running catless downpipe, stock mids and then a Active Autowerke Gen 1 rear system from a 135. Had to heat up and crush the pipe in 2 spots to clear the trisngle brace and also cut tips off and reposition them slightly then reweld. It is huge 3.5inch piping. Sounds crazy! Drones on highway 2k - 3k rpm only when throttle is 15-20% open. Bought the rear section cheap used and muffler shop guy was able to do the work quickly. This system has adustable mounts and that helped with the install right back into stock hangers. I did buy Corsa system for a 135 in the past and that would have been a big project to mod and fit.
I think this setup would be better with vibrant resonators in place of stock secondary cats, but I really dont want to cut that crazy expensive pipe up! Someone needs to step it up and make a bolt on system with a muffler for us, oh and keep it cheap!

I am running catless downpipe with the original resonator retained, the midcats removed and two vibrant resonators welded in

It sounds really good but it is not as loud as I thought it would be. There is ZERO drone.

The stock muffler does a good job keeping drone away... The mufflerless setup I have has a drone reducing resonator, but not really sure if it does anything at all. i'd like to hear it straight piped vs the Active Autowerke and see if there is any difference. I had plans initially to remove that resonator piece and use that pipe to start the dual setup and tips on right side exit.

What is the part number of the Vibrant that you installed? Did you weld them in or are they slip on and clamped?

Here is a pic I have when we were fitting it up...

In the next week or two I'm going to try this...simulating the 1 series BMW PE...

Edit: I already posted this above. I guess I just need to bite the bullet and do it...

Someone sell me their stock muffler!

Is this a direct bolt on? and will it fit the 28i?
