Cargo Capacity

Need some honest opinions.

What is the cargo capacity like? Does it meet your expectations, does it hold enough luggage with the seats in their upright position?

I have seen the car, they say it is equivalent to a midsize sedan, but it seems smaller to me!

Have you taken a vacation with it, how many people, how much baggage etc...

I am contemplating purchasing this vehicle but am worried about the cargo capacity aspect!

Thanks

The best answer anyone can give you is to go look at it yourself and bring whatever you want to test the cargo area with. Trunk space was my biggest concern in looking at SUVs because I wanted something small but big enough to fit a wheelchair into, since I use one everyday.

I think it's more than adequate when it comes to cargo area for most people. But everyone is different, so nobody can really tell you what you need.

This is pretty subjective. Only you can determine if there is enough cargo room for yourself.

Coming from an X3, the X1 was a bit of a compromise in the cargo dept. With the seats up (and the cheap rear window shelf in place) I feel that I have less cargo room than the trunk of my 135i.

We are planning to take our first trip with it, though it's just a day trip and there are only two of us, so that might not be much of a test.

Frankly, this vehicle is not a troop transport. If you have a family, and and are thinking you are going to make it to Wally World without some creative packing, you may be disappointed.

True. I think of it as a tall hatcback, much like the Subaru Crosstrek (but with twice the horsepower and harder suspension).
The upcoming 3-series wagon will have more cargo space, unless I'm mistaken.

I admit this was a very subjective topic. I have seen it, and intend on scheduling a test drive shortly. It will be a gift for my parents who reside in Florida part of the year... Mostly a grocery run about and when we come to visit, it should fit a certain amount of luggage...

Thanks
