It has 60K miles and I plan to keep the car for 3-4 years (15K miles / year).
I've got an appointment at my local indie mechanic for a turbo/oil line replacement. Will cost about 4000$ with labor, I hope it won't happen too often.

Personally, I'd go with the oil line fix at an indy for now and do the turbo swap later if needed. In the 'old days' I'd budget for a turbo rebuild around 120k miles, so it seems early for a replacement

Yeah, I think I would just do the line as well. Just because the line is leaking doesn't mean the turbo is shot.

My X1 is in the shop for the oil line and turbo replacement (I don't want to take the chance).

I'm afraid another repair is awaiting though:

Have you ever heard your engines doing that noise?

Hi,
I have the same problem with my X3, 2012. What happened finally? What did the turbo and new oil inlet replacement resolve this problem?

My car has a little blue smoke at startup (after sitting over night), which I assume it should be cause of leaking oil from turbo oil pipe inlet during night onto turbine (Mine has the old version pipe without check valve) and also I started to notice abnormal oil consumption (almost 0.7 lit/1000 km). I have not had any noticeable oil consumption or oil level warning before.

Your reply will be highly appreciated

Is it recently? Has your driving style changed recently? Any leaks?

Maybe monitor it for a few '000km. Make sure you have spare bottle of oil in the trunk.

Maybe the sensor is not working. I hate relying on these electronic "dipstick" if you can even call it that. I think it's either Full or 1L needed! There's no in between.

I don’t say in how many miles does it burn a quart? My e83 x3 with 135k miles was burning a quart every 1k miles I do drive it hard. Switched to Mobil 1 15w50. Now it hardly burns any .
