BMW Roof Box

Hey Guys,

Do you guys have any experience with the bmw roof box? I am looking to purchase the bigger size one (460 I believe). Can I safely drive with it at 80+ miles per hour? How is the noise and how bad does it effect gas mileage?

Also, I was going to get the box in silver, but found a great deal on a black one. I have a black sapphire x1 and think black would look kinda funny on it. Any pictures of a black x1 with a black roof box you can share? Also won't everything cook in a black roof box, especially in the summer?

I used to worry about driving over 90 or so with a bike on the roof, then when I worked in Germany, I saw bikes and roof boxes on cars doing 155 frequently. Don't worry about it. However, even an empty roof rack obliterates mileage, adding a box or bike is brutal.

155 MPH? I'm in Germany now and I see folks going fast but I doubt many are doing 155 MPH (with or without roof boxes).

I have a large Thule box and have had my X1 up and down I95 (80mph+) many times without issues or any worry.

I have the THULE roof box and racks, i think they are better than BMW's,

Thanks aris. How much did u get it for. Someone is willing to sell me the bmw box for $400... it retails for over 900. Also how is the heat with the black box?

about +800€ only the roof box but you got other prices there, find a dealer and ask about it, there is no problem with the heat if you don't have food or other things like lighers, I am always careful even if there is no problem.
