Halogen H7 high/low beam

Just a reminder, when upgrading the stock H7 halogen bulbs, don't forget to buy 2 pairs/4 bulbs lol. The medial/inner bulbs are for the daylight/high beam function, and the lateral/outer bulbs are for the low beam function. All four bulbs are 55 watts H7. I made a dumb mistake and ordered only 1 pair last time lol. I just double checked the part catalog on Bmwfans.info, all 4 bulbs are identical.

So Kenny - what were the results you experienced? What bulbs did you upgrade to, and how much brighter are they?

Since I only bought one pair of bulbs (BMW high performance), which is made by Philips, I decided to put it on the low beam (outer), since it is more useful than DRL and high beam. So far I have had them for 10 month. These lights seems to offer better distance rather than major improvement over brightness on the low beam. The lights are somewhat whiter than the stock halogens, but still kinda yellowish. I am looking into changing the bulbs again soon, possibly Philips Diamond Vision H7 5000K bulbs. This time I will order two pairs.

BTW, because when turning on high beam, the low beam also stays on; if you only have one pair of upgrade bulbs, putting it onto the low beam also helps with the high beam function.

Installed 2 pairs of Philips Diamond Vision H7 on both high/DRL and low beam. Love the effect. HID quality white color with a hint of blue from the blue colored bulbs. The DRL lenses even appeared blue from the reflection of the blue colored bulbs when the car is turned off. Love them. Let's see how fast they burn out.

I want to add one more side note, the Diamond Vision 5000K will still appear to be slight yellowish white on DRL setting, since DRL setting share the same bulb as the high beam, but gets a reduced output. So I guess the bulb is not putting out 5000K when used as DRL, but it is a lot whiter than stock still. The low beam appears to be blueish even at day time.

Your guess is correct, the 5000k temp will only be reached with full voltage. Since the DRL cuts voltage to 6 or 9V, you'll only get a portion of that heat. Some bulbs also have a second filament in the same bulb at the full 12V, but with less windings to make for less output.
