Yeah I just read that. Makes me glad I have the lighting package, but mostly a little sad how poorly the German automakers did...

Hopefully this will be a start of better lighting. And I would love to see large trucks being tested for glare to oncoming traffic. Same with making headway into making HID's in reflective housings illegal and actively pursuing those who break that.

Glad they started testing these. How can a huge safety item be so overlooked? Seems like they treat headlights more for style and bling nowadays than for visibility.

Still pretty happy with the setup.
It helped a lot during the dark winter months.

I have a bit of outgassing in the one headlight which I will take care of this weekend. Not a major issue, but I am a bit OCD.

BMW 3 series vs Prius with Led headlamps? Hardly a fair comparison.I wonder how the 3 would compare with Xenon headlamps?

My Cooper S and our X1 both have Xenons. The Cooper S has factory Xenons but they are not the projector Xenons, I do think the projector Xenons of the 1 are better, but there is also a 13 year gap in technology between the two cars.

I'm guessing you're talking about regular light bulbs in the Cooper with xenon gas inside (still filament heating up to produce light), as opposed to the HID's in your X1 which produce light by creating a high voltage arc inside the bulb?

HID's in a reflective housing will cause lots of glare and blind other drivers.
