Purchased ours in July of 2016 with 53k, now has 69k. We've driven it all over Europe. One windshield, one water pump, and all new brakes replaced by previous owner. I've replaced a front parking sensor and the front bumper lower lip thanks to Household 6 bumping a pile of rocks while turning around near some residential construction.
The cup holder in the console keeps losing one of the springy teets that falls down into the bowels of the console. There's a blue o-ring rubber band-type dohicky that provides the spring and retention that seems to be wearing/worn out.

This is not a mileage question, but I am interested in anyones thoughts on whether I should buy the car at lease end or look at something else.
My X1 has 21k miles, lease is up in Feb and I have a $31k residual. $31k is a bit high for an open market price on this car in pretty much the same condition. I have seen BlueBook and CarFax numbers closer to $29k .. so its maybe $2k off. On the plus side: I like the cars power ... go E84 Six banger ! Handles very nice for this type of vehicle (tall sedan platform) I'm familiar with it and how it has been treated and maintained I'm just generally happy with the car and it would be easy just to buy it outright. On the down side: Rear passenger space is tight for adults (but I don't carry others too often) Premium fuel costs (I know it will work ok on mid-grade) MPG is not stellar, but its ok for the amount of driving I do Electronics package is kind of dated .. although it works ok for me So, thoughts on what I should do here ? are there any suggestions on how to work with the dealer to get the best possible deal if I want to purchase it post lease ? let me know thanks |

It seems high to me. I've seen used 35i for about the same price as 28i. For some reason dealers don't put a mark-up on used 35i here in PNW. Maybe they assume all X1s are turbo-4s.
I pretty much don't advocate for buying out lease as it turns out to be more expensive in the end. Might as well finance it upfront even if there's a slight chance of owning the car in the end. Nonetheless having the knowledge of maintenance history.... that you are the only prior owner of this car is worth it. |

Yea, no kidding. I had 2 round trips to PA (1600ish miles each), work trip to nashville (1200 miles?), and I have a daily commute of 70 miles for work (still takes less time than when I had a 50 mile commute at my previous job).

Just change oil every 10k, one set of tires, due for second set now. Front and rear brakes at around 100k. Occasional air filter, keep her clean, wash off all the north east winter road salt. 2 windshields along the way...thats about it.

I have mostly highway driving, I think thats huge to get high mileage trouble free. And I fix most things myself. My brother is the opposite, treats his car like crap...This is a well made car, very solid, no rattles or squeaks. Get close to 30 mpg keeping it between 70-75.

2013 with 80K miles. Right front strut failed, replaced both fronts. Engine mounts are likely done, replacing them this week, along with trans mounts, and rear shocks. Replaced the front upper and lower control arms, and tie rods, as a precaution recently too.
