Is the red strip a separate piece or attached to the piano black trim piece?

Thanks

2015

Thanks rtowell--
Those are the first good pix of the dash and CR "highlights' that I have seen. I was worried that the dash might be overwhelming but it is just beautiful !!
The glossy exterior Sportline highlights and the three 2015 changes are shown in the new catalogue. Someone posted the new catalogue on "b...f" a while ago, but I can't seem to figure out how to re-post it now.
Scottomfg--what neat colors you chose! Thanks for the hatch trim snap shots.
It is my understanding that that trim is on all of the 2015 x1s.
I think that Space Gray is available in some markets, Vermillion, a white leather with Yellow/gray highlights, and a medium brown leather as well.
Can't wait to see mine in person.

The changes look nice.

Just wonder about the dash piece over the instrument panel - it seems to have a darker color. How does it look in person? Good to hear it is soft plastic now.

Is just the cowl over the instrument cluster the new soft touch material or is it the entire dash?

thanks

it looks really, really good in person. the contrast stitching really sets it off well and draws attention to it (and away from the hard plastic used in the bottom half of dash, ha). it's exactly the same color as the rest of the upper dash, the perception of the color difference in the photos is purely from lighting. my photos were under terrible single source fluorescent light.

the entire dash is soft touch, and feels more or less the same as the cowl. I *think* previous year x1s had soft touch there already, the new change is adding it to the instrument hood/cowl.

And, that terra that comes up on the dash is sadly very much NOT leather--it's hard plastic, though visually pretty convincing, and perfectly color-matched. The new covering on instrument hood is not leather either, but is a very nice soft touch material.
Nice camera! Yeah, SLR's are hard to beat.

The terra may be hard plastic, but it sure does look nice from here!

I'll keep looking over there, maybe it'll turn up, thanks.

First fill-up ... very impressed at over 25 MPG mostly in-town driving. I drive almost exclusively in SD which does not use the auto start stop feature. Performance is good, handling is great. All it needs is a good exhaust note.

Although my delivery isn't until May 12th, I've already 'accumulated' H&R lowering springs, Yakima Railgrab rack towers, Carbon Fiber mirror caps, and will order McNeil cargo mat when it comes.
Biggest unresolved issue now is the exhaust. UUC came through for my 330Ci just perfectly. Beautifully constructed, nice sound, excellent fit, but I can't find anything as nice yet for the X1.
Considering Bimmerian CF steering wheel trim to erase the aluminum that it comes with. (and match my mirror caps)
Maybe a UV type light tint is in the near future but I don't want to hide those hides!!!
May just tint the luggage area?
All comments appreciated.

You can always order the one for the M1. It is the same.

FWIW I decided I am not a fan two tone tinting but wanted to do something. As such, we did a 50% Sun-Tek tint (when combined with the based window tint gives about 42% transmission). However, we did the carbon tint which reduces the UV even more. Thus nothing is hidden but hopefully a cooler car - literally and figuratively.

Found the link to an X1 brochure (2015?) in case anyone else is also interested!!! This is the international version as well.

Oh man since I ordered mine in March 3rd, I have been crossing my fingers to have it delivered with the same interior.. Asked my dealer and he responded that he's not sure as they have different setup for different countries. BTW, I'm in Australia and the ones in the dealer shop don't have such interiors .. Mine's scheduled to land in Australia on May 28th. I'll be quite sad if it doesn't have this interior

But unfortunately, I couldn't be as happy as I wanted as they delivered 8SP Automatic instead of Manual I initially ordered , n had to go thru bit of a fuss before I agreed to take it... was soooo disappointing honestly

Looks great. I just missed out on the updated interior.

I tend to use the EcoPro mode in town (when I remember to turn it on) as I don't need full acceleration in traffic. Maybe it's different with a manual box. I turn if off out in the country lanes as the miles saved figure goes backwards.

I'm just curious as why BMW doesn't offer same body color side mirrors
In the UK body coloured mirrors are standard on the Sport with Black as a no cost option. Made no difference either way with mine.
