X1 Coding complete thanks to Dan (roumaniankid)!
Hey guys,
Just met up with Dan (aka "Roumaniankid" on here) from the forum today and he coached me through the coding process and helped to make all the changes I had in mind...plus a few I didn't know about! Please if you are in the Sacramento, CA area send him a PM and he would be glad to assist. He has the coding process down to a science it seems! He was able to do the following: - Disable iDrive legal disclaimer. [Thank goodness!] - Enable DVD in motion. [This is pretty cool and works great] - Allow closing of windows/sunroof with fob. [Nice to have just in case] - Allow closing of windows/sunroof with Comfort Access. [Again just nice to have] - Fold/unfold mirrors with key fob. [Sweet!] - Auto unlock all doors when car turned off. [I don't understand why this isn't an option in iDrive] - Enable Auto Mode for Day/Night Nav. (Finally! BMW ADD THIS TO iDRIVE!] - Allow Fog Lights + High Beam. [Cool!] - Allow Fog Lights + Flash. [Nifty!] - Enable Digital Speed. [Yeah!] - Disable speed correction. [Analog speedo and digital speed now seem to match and are accurate] - Double Blink Hazards. [Heck, why not!] - Enabled "soft-on" for the welcome lights. [This causes the exterior lights to fade on slowly, looks neat] - Enabled rear fogs during welcome lights. [This just adds extra light in the rear and looks cool] Again send Roumaniankid a PM. Great guy and he knows his stuff.

Not that I'm aware of. A USB cable must be connected from the laptop with the NCS Expert software to the OBD port under the dash. Although if you have the cable, perhaps Dan can do some sort of remote connect to your laptop and do the work remotely. Send him a PM to see.

Cool coding mods ScottMZ3. I'm in the SF Bay Area too Sennasixty8 and want to get some coding on my X1. Maybe time for a road trip to Sacto since I can't seem to find anyone in the Bay Area who will help with coding.

There are BMW coding forums out there that provide the steps. Definitely a bit daunting at first and helps to be rather computer savvy.

I think my local tuner, Performance Technic will be able to sort thru the new coding, now that I think of it. They have the right equipment, and are much more savvy than your typical service advisor.

I think this is the main forum out there: www.bmw----coding.com
Remove the dashes in the link above. This forum filters links to other BMW sites it seems.

I would add few more to the list:
Wiper wipes to End position after turning engine off Auto Headlight Sensitivity adjustment from BC Button Instant digital MPG in cluster Side Marker Delete US Changed the number of turn signal blinks Recirculating air memory AC memory (Auto doesn't turn on AC, but depend on the last state) Residual Heat function Still can't figure out how to do the following: Eyebrows with DRL Tail lights with DRL Disable fog corner light when making turn |

My brother had his car remotely coded by Alex at Alpine http://www.alpinemss.com/. He was extremely happy with the service. He's somewhere in Southern California, 310 Area Code.

Yes, mine is the same but looking from further away it doesn't show up at all. To see the difference look at it when the low beams are on. I guess I need to look at the voltage of the eyebrows in DRL mode.
