2012 Rear Bumper swap to 2013+

Hello all,

Just curious if the rear bumper on the 2012 X1 can be swapped with the 2013+ X1 without modification?

I like the newer design of the silver trim on the 2013+ X1 rear bumper. Can this piece be swapped (assuming both bumpers are PDC bumpers)? Does the entire black trim above this silver piece need to be swapped along with it?

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Go check it out at realOEM.com
put in 2012 rear bumper part number and 2013's.
If the two numbers match, then you got a winner.

I just swapped my black piece of the rear bumper because I want clearcoat on mine.

1. You do not need to remove the bumper from the body. It can be done by removing the black part only. Recommend however new clips.

2. The silver piece is attached to the black one in the factory and can not be separate from the black piece due to the fact that are glued and melted together.

3. I am unaware of the 2013 in a 2012 swap but I am almost sure that you will have no issues. Park side by side with a 2013 or later model and you will see if they fit. From what I know they are practically the same, just the silver part is different.

4. Order the black part only, do not order the whole bumper; that's what I did. Replacement took 30 minutes at the dealership.

Cheers
