My 28i Xdrive came with the AS/S off from the factory. I believe that is the standard across the board now. I could be wrong, but it can definitely be programmed off if it is on from the factory.

Thank you. Just to clarify, the auto start/stop which shuts down the motor at traffic lights can be permanently shut down once and for all -leaving the motor running without interruption every time you get in the car? That would be great. I drove a 328i with the start/stop feature and did not like it as there was no default "off" setting.

We just picked up a loaded 2014 X1 sDrive28i yesterday (loving it!) and I can confirm that if you disable the AS/S feature using the button on the dash...the car remembers that setting with your driver profile. So it will be off each time you start the car (thank goodness!).

Pushing the Eco Pro button WILL turn the AS/S back on though.

I'll be posting photos and impressions of our car soon.

I'll just add, I ordered my sDrive28i sport line last week and servotronic was the only option for steering. Seems like BMW phased out the last of the hydraulic units, making servotronic as standard equipment.

I just picked up my 35 M Sport on Thursday and found that the 6 speed is a smoother transmission then the Zap 8 speed in my 2011 X3 that I traded in.
At first I was disappointed that I was getting a 6 speed but now that I have driven it I am very happy.

Hmmm.....I think I'm going to sort of disagree with you there.... lol
Went from a 335xi coupe with 6AT/paddles to X3 28, and now drove both the X1 35 w/6MT and the x28 - have to say the 8sp is much quicker shifting and waaaay smoother than the 6sp on the X1 35. But hey - as long as YOU are happy....

8 speed smoother, even with the quicker crisp shifts the newer tranny just shines!

Overboost missing from discussion?

Don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but I was going through it and was very surprised that one feature seems to be missing from the 2014 changes discussions:

Overboost!

Not sure if this is specific to Canadian models only, but it basically increases the boost pressure for 7-10 seconds to get you an extra 110 lb ft torque.

If I knew this little bit of information might have held off on our 2013 model! I guess I'll have to explore JB4 install once the warranty runs out.

There is no overboost on any X1 model: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=791839

Canada-only overboost on 2014 X1

I think you might be mistaken - the last post from that thread (and thanks for digging it up as I lost it while I was waiting for forum rights to be setup)

BMWBig6:

UPDATE: I submitted an inquiry on BMW's website after I started this thread, and a BMW Genius was assigned to my case. They spent several weeks researching my question about the overboost feature (different departments were just as confused as we were), until finally their North American specialist weighed in with this information:
The overboost feature is real, and present in the Canadian models as described.
The overboost feature is NOT available in U.S. models, and they don't know if it will ever be offered in the U.S. market.
The overboost feature may exist in other markets outside of North America too, but the BMW Genius North American specialist did not have access to that information.

The BMW Genius did not seem to know if the overboost feature required hardware or software changes (or both), so I don't know if it's something we can simply (or safely) "unlock" on our US models. I also don't know if BMW beefed up the components of Canadian models for overboost (better half-shafts, transmission, etc.) to accommodate the additional power. A quick comparison of parts diagrams or phone call to a BMW tuner in both US and Canadian markets might be able to confirm or deny if there are any programming differences between X1s in these markets.

I asked if there was any possibility that the overboost information was simply inaccurate or incorrect, and they said no, it's correct and not a typographical error or mistake.

I'd bet the "Genius" was wrong. Those numbers just don't make any sense for the N20.

I guess there is only one way to find out...

Anyone in Vancouver BC area with a 2014 X1 28i interested in running some real world side-by-side tests?

Over boost is real, but the numbers are way off. It's only 25-35 Nm

I'll see if I can find my dyno sheets. I remember the numbers from literature that I had with my purchase.
