one year service

Bought my 2013 sDrive X1 at Beverly Hills BMW the Friday after Thanksgiving, 2012. As I approached 14K I finally got the oil change service due light for its first scheduled service (I had brought it in a couple months back for a low coolant alert).

Originally I set an appointment with a promised loaner for 11/22 but when the "service due in..." marker hit "0", I emailed my SA and he said, "Why not bring it in this Saturday? We'll fix you up fast, while you wait." So he was true to his word. I was out in under an hour. Somehow I expected the first service at one year to be a more comprehensive affair! Then again, it's true that the IDrive alert was just for the oil change. By the way, I noticed later that the next service is still shown in 15,000 miles, so that's not changed despite the 2014's going to every 10K. But I'll ask about that when I eventually take it in for the brake recall.

So other X1 owners on one year - was your first service a longer affair?

The new service interval is 12k, not 10k. My dealer switched our 2013 over to that interval after our annual low mileage change at 11k miles though. Dealers don't seem to like telling folks about the low mileage annual change.

Took my '13 in to irvine BMW and they changed mine to the 12k interval. I would call them and let them know another dealer in so. Cal is doing it.

My 2013's first service notification came at 12,000 miles. I prefer to wait, but my dealer likes to do oil changes when the schedule allows, so for max flexibility the SA specifically asked me to drop the car and take a loaner. At 23,400 miles, I'm expecting my second notification within the next couple weeks.

Thanks guys. Well my X1 is among those apparently set for a recall, so I will def bring up the 12k vs. 15k oil change notification then. No hurry...

First Oil Change

Circle BMW NJ re set my oil change on 2013 X1 to 16,000 miles, after 1st oil change. Also to 2/2017. I protested, they said it cant be lowered happens automatically. Emailed BMW USA, they called me, said they only lower to 10,000 miles on 2014s. Oh well...not too happy about it.
