not a moment too soon

Yesterday morning snap snow showers on the way to the shop to have winter rims and wheels installed caused me to skid to a stop in their parking lot. Tires came in handy on the slippery way home from a concert last night...

Yes they are 17" anthracite. Tires are Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 - have used all-seasons with my past two vehicles (including an X3) but had good experience with Michelin snows before. Wheels look goofy compared to the 19" summer rims so I thought I'd go for the monochrome look to partly offset this. Honestly, as long as it keeps me on the road this winter, I'm good.

Being up here in Canuckistan, both items had to be ordered in from the US. Pricing was about $200 cheaper than what it would have been landed from TireRack.
