TPMS Error

Is anyone experiencing issues with the TMS? the last 2 days only first thing in the morning my TPM alerts me of low tire pressure in the passenger side rear tire? After i reset the TPMS everything is fine. Also noticed there is nothing wrong with the tire. I know other BMW'S in the early 2000's had issues but i thought it had been resolved.

No but mine randomly gave me a TPMS Malfunction. I reset it and all is well (?) Not too comforting. It's been about 2 weeks, however, since that incident. And, like you, all 4 tires were at factory spec.

Came up for me once when I did a trip to Tahoe, but It was due to the change in temp..... I would check your psi in the tires when they are hot and then reset it and see what happens....

If it is reset when tires are hot, there is more liely to be a false alarm. For example, say fronts should be 35 when cold. They go to 40 or so when hot. Tpms is set at 40. If tire pressure drops to 34 when cold, there will be a 6* difference and warning will come on. That can't be what you meant.

+1

Get your psi straight, and reset TPMS while cold, then, there should be no issue until a cold morning of 40 deg f lowers psi 4#.

Remember air guages can be wildly inaccurate. I had an old one that read 12lbs high and drove me crazy with TPMS until I tried a different guage.

On another subject, I tried using old BMW TPMS sensors from 2008 on the 2013 X1 and they failed to work at all, giving an "Inactive" error. Dealer said they'd seen that before.

Most dial gauges are pretty accurate. I bought several $3 cheap gauges that all read right.

Those that run the stick out can wear, and are tricky.

Always use your own gauge, and reference ride and tire wear back to it.
