Hours before buying my X1 Sport 2013 (update: contract signed!)

Hello guys!

I bought my first BMW (F20) on June...it's great, fast, etc... now I will give this car to my wife. So, I am about to buy the new X1 Sport (7AC) in white or orange valencia (i still have a few hours to make a decision).

The configuration is:

Sport Line 7AC S18i
Rear PDC
Climate
Sport
Lightning package
18" Wheels Type 421
Front and rear fogs
8.8" Screen (without nav because here in Peru it doesn't work).
Extended bluetooth
Voice control, etc.

When even I was dreaming with this car a year ago...is this a good move?

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you!

Going from an e90 to an X1 most probably.
My config:
Sport Line
Rear PDC
Climate
Sport etc...
NAV

I'm getting alpine white with red interior (that's the only config available on the lot with what I want)

The orange valencia is a stunning colour!!!!
But since I really want red interior, orange would just be wrong.

All depends on what you want inside the car.
Either way, they will be very nice!

Hello vince! Same here! White is my best option with black/red interior...
Look my pic from dealer.

I will sign contract tomorrow and I am looking every single option...(this is stock car also).

I hope to retrofit xenons if it's possible.

Btw: I saw on realoem site the day running lights retrofit kit.i'll search for pics...

The topic of xenon retro's has been talked about in length in other threads, worth digging into...

In short, retro fitting Xenons is at least $2k and not an easy job. It requires the wiring harness used for power seats and moonroof it appears as well as sensors around the car to calculate how to auto level the headlights to avoid blinding oncoming drivers, and this would be for not having adaptive lights either. I ended up going with the 35 for the motor with no premium package rather than the 28 with premium to get xenon lights, 35 is slightly more but not terrible.

Thanks edx1!

Most things should be standard..if they charge less than 1,000 USD for xenons or order, that is not a big deal for pricing.

Sorry if this is an old thread, but I came from the F20 forum and I will start reading and posting as soon as I get my X1

Hi LatinBimmer,

As someone else said, the xenons is a must right away, unless you want to go the HID route afterwards. But to retrofit xenons, will really be complicated and also VERY expensive.

We get a different interior here with the sports package.
Here's the picture of what I'm getting with the Apline White outside:

I ordered mine on 10/4, and it still hasn't entered production.
As I understand it, dealers get quotas on how many cars they can order, and once those have been exceeded, they have to wait for openings due to cancellations or other dealers not using their quota.
So those who ordered early got their car in production within a couple of days, but those who order late from popular dealers may not get to see their car for a long time.

Yes, it sucks.

Yes, it sucks.
Sometimes, if they are willing, dealers can trade allocations. Mine did after I told him I already sold my other car and signed papers for the new one, after thinking I already had an allocation.

Oh sorry typo, what i was trying to say was, i deposited 1k on 11/2 and the dealer ordered the build on 11/5. im assuming its really ordered since i got the production number on 11/5. Oh well it's only a week but it felt like so long!

Maybe you could try calling bmw usa for more updated info. Did you get your production number?

Yes, I received a production number. It is just stuck between there and actually entering production because of the dealer having run out of allotments.
Unfortunately, it's the customer who gets punished, not the dealer.

Yea have to agree on that.

I thought when we get the production number it basically means just waiting for the factory over at German to build it not waiting for the dealer to have allocation.

Btw what does allocation mean anyway? Is it something like a slot a dealer have to put the car? lol.

Yes, a production number just means that it is in the German BMW system.
The initial key piece of information is the Build Week. Once you have a build week then you know your car will be built and can figure out approximately when it will get shipped and therefore when you ultimately will take delivery. There is lots of info on the whole production/shipping/tracking process -- just do a search.

Dealers have a monthly allotment for X1's so the number of slots open and when can vary dealer by dealer.

I don't think the production line is running at 100% full capacity at the moment.

Because when I placed my order at the beginning of the month, I was immediately given a production number for a slot that had just been committed to the built.
