Thanks guys! Can't wait.

Had to trade in my 370Z since it wasn't getting any use due to the really shitty winters.

Yep... Driving it barely 4 weeks a year should do that...

Yes, but they're are pretty lame. Just the three for the iPhone. But I am hoping that things get better over time.

DC - I'm having trouble getting the BMW Apps to work when I attach my iPhone 4 to the X1 with the Y cable. The web radio plays on the iPhone (through the BMW Connected Drive app), but I can't get it to play through the (very nice) HK audio system. Also can't get anything from Facebook to display on the vehicle's screen. I wondered if maybe the Y cable was the wrong one, but music from my iPhone (playlists) plays just fine. Also, every time I connect my iPhone using the Y cable, I get an immediate pop up message on the iPhone saying something like 'this device is not optimized for this connection'. Can you offer any advice or guidance? I'd appreciate it!

I did a bit of research on the Web and came to the conclusion that you needed a phone adapter for full functionality. There are a coupla versions but the one that you want in order to do everything (including playing movies on the Nav screen) is the Media Adapter. They came out with a new version the end of April with p/n 84-21-2-218-390. This one has a fan to keep the phone cooled.

My dealer here wanted something like $350 + HST. I bought it from Tischer BMW of Silver Spring in the U.S. Their Web site is:
getBMWparts.com

It cost $210 U.S. plus $16.95 + $4.95 for shipping. It arrived in less than a week by UPS with full tracking. Highly recommend them.

Hope this helps...........

PM me if you want to check it out. I'm in Don Mills.

Hi CanadianX1, welcome on this forum

And congratulations on your purchase

I must say I am amazed that you can order an X1 and have it delivered in 6 weeks to Canada! Our waiting times over on this side of the pond is about 10 weeks for a factory build.

Ask the dealer for the build week. It will take about 7 weeks after that me thinks.

How much duty/brokerage fees did you end up paying? Also, do you know if this fits other models, ie 135/1M? (is the $16.95 the duty?)

$16.95 was the shipping and the $4.85 ws listed as Misc.
Could have been brokerage.

I think it fits everywhere on the newer BMW's, but you'd have to check to be really sure. Go to that forum and ask your question there, or search on the p/n and 1 series.

Thats a great web site ... some good prices for merchandise ... i ordered a cap, backpack, polo shirt and an 1:43 X1 model ... much cheaper than the local dealer's prices, especially with the Aussie dollar worth more than the US dollar.

No specific X1 parts or accesssories of course as X1 not sold in US yet

A couple of questions:

How is the 28i engine in terms of sound/smoothness?

Anyone in Canada feel like discussing what they paid/what discount one might get?

By the way, this coming from a guy who has loved and driven the naturally aspriated straight-6's for years. Most enjoyable thing in the world is keeping the car at 3,500 rpm and then throttling it out... what a sound!

You should hear the 2.0d, very un-diesel like growl.
