Diversity antenna?

Anyone know if the X1 has a diversity antenna? Getting static on radio with FM.

Whats a diversity antenna? I get the static as well. Sorry I did not opt for the DAB, completely forgot about it.

There are several antennae in the car and the head unit picks the one with the best signal. Sometimes the rear window lines aren't for the defroster, but are for an antenna. An antenna can also be in the fenders.

My service manager didn't know if the E84 has this system, but I have booked an appt to take it in tomorrow.

Could be a faulty connection or ?

Thanks, thats very interesting. I thought that the X1 only had one, around the front windscreen.

Let me know if BMW can shed more light on the matter.

In the shop now. Was able to duplicate the FM interference for the lead tech. Tech said X1 does have a diversity antenna. There are three separate antennae at the top of the rear hatch. Antennae were moved from the glass for better reception. Stay tuned.....

A new X3 had the same problem. Seems to be worse with some stations with that one. Couldn't fix it (yet?)

I haven't noticed this problem with ours DC, but I'll listen for it. We ordered the Sirius sat radio on our X1 and tend to listen to it almost exclusively. Reception is fantastic. I'm in to Parkview tomorrow with my other vehicle. Let us know if they fix the problem.

Dealer phoned and said that other BMW models experience the same problem when road tested. Said it could be due to a weak station, but we all know CHFI isn't one of those.
SA agreed with me in that In this case, BMW radios are shilly.

Bottom line is that if you feel that you are getting radio interference and you shouldn't be, please report it to the dealer. It is only when a lot of folks start complaining do they ever seem to address non-major but annoying problems.
