Do you recommend the excessive Wear & Tear package?

I'm recommended by the dealer to get the excessive wear & tear package from them...

Priced at 899$ CAD..

Lady said it includes excessive wear on tires...

Do you guys recommend getting it ?

My 2008 Mini cooper is due from its lease, I had all 4 tires under 4/32", they will charge me 375$ each, that's over 1500$ already for a mini cooper 16" Runflat 195/55R16 continental contiprocontact SSR.

So 899 is not bad. However, you might want to think ahead if you want to keep your X1 or not when your lease end...

It depends on how many miles you do I suppose. We have a service plan here in the UK but its borderline break even if you do less than 5k miles a year

How do they class excessive? I would get the fine print (or any verbal promise) in writing. Sorry for being cynical but I never trust a car dealer.

+1.

Dealer can't/doesn't want to take worn-out tires back on a car. He would have to replace to re-sell for safety reasons. So someone has to pay for them.

It's a gamble - will you be above the spec or below in the future? If below, then the package is cheaper vs. buying several tires from the dealer, unless you can find some used tires above the spec before returning the car.

I went for the excess wear and tear package on our leased X1. It also covers paint chips, scratches and minor dents - up to $7,500 when you return the vehicle. I think it's worth it, especially if you will do a lot of driving.
