I complained to the CA I bought my 335i from about the option policy, as I do not want to shell out another $6500 for the privilege of paying another $2k for xenon and PDC. Get with the program, BMW, as you're driving off loyal customers.

Going with M Sport and Ultimate pkg, didn't want the Ultimate but need park distance control and or camera and you have to spend a fortune to get it like was already mentioned. PDC should be a separate option since its a true safety feature that everyone should have in a SUV. Pricing out at $43,795 and need to decide on aluminum or fine line wood trim.
$43k+ !?!? That is way overpriced for an x1. Sorry BMW...love ya, but you're gouging your enthusiasts!

Go STi. I love BMW, but you get more out of the STi in performance than what you'll pay for the X1.

Sad to say but I agree. The STI will offer more fun for the buck.

This sucks for Canadian folk who bought the 2012 version.
Everything listed is much much cheaper than any Canadian paid for.
Yet you guys gets all the goodies that we can't buy.
Shame BMW Canada.

Well I'm excited.

M Sport Alpine White please. My only issue is that I wish the 18s were 225M; not 335M.

Wow, pricing on the X1 seems very competitive! Base price on the X1 xDrive28i is only about $1,200 more than a 128i coupe and you obviously get AWD with the X1. Even fully loaded, a X1 xDrive28i is only about $2k more than a fully loaded 128i coupe. Heck, a loaded X1 sDrive28i is pretty much dollar-for-dollar the same as a loaded 128i coupe. Nice! I do wonder, however, what competitors the X1 will be up against. Size-wise, it seems it would compete with the Rav4, CRV, Tiguan, et al. But, a loaded X1 is about $10k more than even a loaded Tiguan, which is the most expensive small ute. I don't think there are any other premium small utes, are there?

Acura RDX, Infiniti EX, and that new Buick one whose name escapes me. Also, if I am not mistaken, the GLK is sort straddling the line here too, as I believe it is a little smaller than an X3. Q3 will also be here at some point as well.

Doh, how could I forget those!

The EX and the GLK are much more expensive, no, especially when you start tacking on options? Not to mention, I think the EX might as well be called an Infiniti Outback because it looks more like a tall station wagon than a small SUV. As for the RDX? I've never been a fan of overpriced Hondas, though the RDX is priced very competitively compared to the X1, as long as you don't factor in the added you equipment you get for the higher X1 price (again, we're talking loaded machines here). I imagine the Q3 will be the closest competitor, which isn't a surprise, even though it's a FWD-based SUV.

And none of those have the performance you are looking at from the 35. To spec them out similarly, my 35 was about $800 cheaper. Xenons and sunroof cost on the 28.

Canadian 2013 X1 pricing will be much much higher as well vs US . 10K difference at least.
BTw Does BMW support the warranty in Canada if you'll buy X1 in US for example ?

As an additional reference, I've attached the Military and Diplomatic Sales (US Models) Ordering and Pricing Guide that I received from the BMW Military Sales folks on Okinawa.

Got Mine

Hi. Newbie here.

I just bought the 2013 x28i and love everything about it, but not the sound. I think the pre-amps on the radios are cranked too high at the factory. So on my 'professional' sound system they are just crap. The CDs sound great, but not the radios. I'm looking into replacing it with the dealer, or adding an attenuator before I get in to replacing amps and speakers. If the source sucks, nothing I can do will make that better.

I just moved to BMW from Audi at my wife's urging - she drives as 325 sedan - and I think the x1 is great. I wanted something with a little more room than my avant wagon but didn't want a full SUV.

I think some of the comparisons to other cars listed above are apples and oranges. There are things that are different in the BMW that are fairly strong when comparing to say VW. The feel is different - the warranties are different, etc

Anyway, wanted to say hi.
