Sunglass Holder X1
Thank you forum members for sharing with me that there was an aftermarket sunglass holder for my car as I could not find a safe place for them. I ordered the holder on Ebay , took off the hand grasp and installed it in 5 minutes. Looks great, works great. It is unfortunate that x1 designers left this out of the design.

I don't think they left it out at all. Those without nav get the cubby in that pay off the dash. Perfect for your wallet, sunglasses etc.

I think it's a part of a discontinued European storage package. RealOEM shows the part on the diagram, but not the description:
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...19&hg=51&fg=40 I got the OEM one from a seller that has all three colors for $67 after shipping. Part numbers: 51164862874 black 51164862873 beige 51164862872 grey |

That's what I do but I only use clip-ons which fit nicely there. Anything larger, I figure, would stick out a bit and probably fall out in a hard turn.
If I had larger sunglasses I'd keep them in a case in the side storage. I had an overhead sunglass holder in my Lexus IS and thought I'd miss it, but I don't. I especially don't miss the times it popped back open, blocking the rear view mirror... |

Thanks atomic, since I have the ultimate package, storage space is scarce.I keep my reading glasses , mints etc in the space in front of shifter. I did have my Ray Bans in the side compartment until I luckily found them on the floor outside the car. The holder I installed keeps them safe, easily accessible and easy to find. i guess to each their own.

Funny you should mention, and this is going to sound quasi-retarded on my part. I actually have 2 brand new sunglass holders. I bought a gray one a few months ago, set it aside and completely forgot to return it for an exchange. And then recently I bought a black one to match my headliner, and it wont shut with my sunglasses.
So yeah I have a gray one and a black one I need to sell. Both are brand new, gray one never left the box it shipped in. PM me if you're interested. |
