Engine malfunction light turned on today

I know this has been covered quite a few times in this forum. I just want to ask again, my mom's 2012 bmw x1 x28i's engine malfunction light turned on today (the yellow light), can she still drive it tomorrow to work? The manual says you can still drive with moderate speed and caution. The car has 20k km on it.

As long as the light isn't flashing it's safe to drive
