Garage List
X1 or Volvo Xc60

A collegue at work is looking to change from his VW Jetta, which is coming out of lease next month.
He has been looking at the Volvo XC60, which is available now and for which the dealer is going some good deals.
The X1 will be a few months away and potentially cost a bit more.
The XC60 is bigger and has more power 210kw, as it is a turbo 6.
Anyone know if the volvo is any good, or if it is something to keep away from?

I have tested both (but with diesel engines)

You cannot hesitate as both are very different (but both are a good choice)

the design is very different (outside and inside)
the external size is different (X1 is smaller, will be easier to park), nevertheles the difference inside is not very important but X1 trunk is smaller.

X1 is really more sporty, (cornering is very good) but the suspension is a little bit hard
XC60 is softer, may be better for a "family" drive, the steering is not very precise.

I finaly ordered the X1 because it is more fun to drive (and because now Volvo belong to a chinese company and I do not like that .... sorry ...)

I have tested both cars too. The Volvo is bigger and should be compared with an X3. It's a very nice car with that typical soft Volvo interior and soft driving. The X1 is definitly more sporty.

It all depends what you expect from a car. If you expect comfort and softness, go for the Volvo. If you want a car which you can handel like a race-kart, go for the BMW.
