Tire Pressures

BMW says there should be 35 in front and 41 in back. What happens if you go with 41 all around or 45 all around or 41/39, etc?

And you'll get even more understeer.

Thank you for the responses. Tirerack has some links that say if you overinflate you get better steering response.

And less traction.

HOwever, The tires you have and whether you have staggered or not comes into play.

My staggered 8x18 and 9x18 with P7 performance tires likes maximum 38 front and 42 rear filled cold approx 70 deg f which is what the book says for MSport at over 100 mph.

I tested with heat laser on track, and with 38 psi all around, and that translates to about 44-45 hot all around, but that made car understeer somewhat.

IMO that BMW's PSI sticker on door is accurate while lots of other cars aren't.

My staggered needs 1 to 4 more psi in rears to get closer to neutral.

While I know would you meant I would like to see that.

But yes under filling or over filling tires will cause them to wear prematurely.

Assuming a less than full load (I suspected that the 41 in the rear was a CYA for that eventuality), I've been running 35 all the way around; the understeer seems less noticeable.
Experiment and see what works.
