Engine and Bonnet heating problem

I became proud owner of new X1 just week back.

I need some input about problem I am facing.

Even with 2 km of drive, new X1's bonnet get so much heated that I cannot touch it. So much heat is generated in the engine; I feel that plastic or rubber parts in the engine will be melted. I feared that if I go for long drive engine will blow up.

Has anyone come across this kind of situation?

Eventually I will be taking up matter with Authorized dealer and if required with BMW.

All inputs on this regards are pleasantly welcome.
