OK I'm a New x1 Owner!

Can anyone tell me what the usb connection in the glove compartment is for? Can I put a memory stick with music on it?

Something else, anyone else have a problem with the CD not displaying the artist or track name (it doesn't display on the screen - business pack) but plays the CD fine.

I'll post some pics if anyone is interested.

Congrats on your new drive! The glovebox USB port is for loading music, not playing I believe.

Congrats on your new car! Is it white or grey, can't figure out from the picture

As for playing CDs, not sure if I get your question right, but here's my answer:
- regular CDs (i.e. with music, not mp3), esp. older ones, do not always have the tracks and artist name, so quite often the music just plays but no info is displayed;
- as for mp3s, normally you get the info via internet when ripping the CD, or downloading music; this info should be displayed.

But I must say I find the CD/mp3 player really lazy: it takes ages (i.e. more than a minute) before it starts playing when I turn on the engine, even more time to recognise the artist and track names, and DVDs with mp3 are hardly ever recognised (although they should be with business nav). Anybody else noticed that? I don't known if I should ask the dealer to check or that's just normal?

On my previous opel the mp3 player started immediately after I turned on the engine. Quite a disapppointment for the bmw system

Thanks for the welcome, just enjoying driving at the moment.

It's a 'metallic' white, when I ordered it based on the little patch they have in the dealers here in France I thought it was a very light silver...but I love the colour anyway and it goes great with the dark leather interior (a 'pack lux' they call it here).

It's my first BMW, had an Audi A4 TDi break before but this is totally different. I had it up in the mountains near to where I live a few days ago...in the SNOW on the 2nd of June! It's not normal where I live but we traveled out a bit from where we are for a longish day out and it was great, I've put picture with this message.

Anyway thanks for your welcome(s), been following the forum for a little while and getting tips 'n tricks, I'm looking forward to contributing where I can.

As for the CD, I made an MP3 disc last night & put it in today, all the artists & track names come up but not on my 'bought' CD's & yes the CD does seem to take ages to load! I've yet to try a USB stick, it's on the to do list.

Hi and congratulations to a wonderful car,
all informations and cover of a song must be embedded in itself.
There are tools in the internet where you can build mp3 tags.

It was a drag & drop from iTunes to Nero to burn the disc so I guess all the info transfered direct from iTunes.

Bloody hell, snow in June, and I bet you were on summer tyres.

I am jealous, I love driving in the snow Do you know what altitude you were at?

36C here, feeling like 41C. Car is only km and days away. Numerous records broken in Southern Ontario.

Close, on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. Warmed up a lot since then and I was 140 or so Kms away from home. Altitude was 2200m.

Now put in over 2000kms, engine loosening up well and no problems at all. Fuel return (2.0d) about 6.5lts per 100kms, is this about average? Anyone getting better (this is mixed driving town, country & motorway)

Question

By the way, does anyone know if it is possible to get the fitted sun blinds anywhere other than BMW for the X1, the prices quoted in France (and UK) are VERY VERY steep...I'm sure they've go up significantly since I was looking before the car arrived (back in March/April time)

Near San Sebastian I suppose ?

6.5L/100km combined is fine. Never measured on mine (I don't pay for my gas !), but it's a good mileage for a 2 liter Diesel mill.
