Front Lower Bumper Trim Removal/Replacement

Wife bumped a pile of rocks and scuffed up the black lower bumper trim on the front of our 2013 X1. I've got a replacement trim piece on the way, but I can find very little information about what it takes to R&R the piece.

I did find one video that covers the removal of the entire bumper for similar damage, but that's all it covered and didn't actually show the replacement the trim. Surely this is not necessary, is it? Can anyone provide any guidance on this tiny project or a direction for more information? TIA.

It looks like there are some rivets, clips, and bolts that need to be removed. The rivets are expanding rivets so they will probably need to be drilled out, then replaced with new rivets. You also might need to replace the clips. Check out the link below (pieces 7, 9, 10, 11):

Doing that with the bumper off will always be easiest, but that's not to say that it cant be done with it on.

Good luck!
