Any way to boost steering assist?

I love the (standard setup) power steering in my 2014 X1 at speed, but find it way too much effort in parking lots. I have a medical condition that affects my strength. Is there any way a mechanic can make the steering easier at slow speeds (more ps boost?). I know this is not what most desire, but it will prohibit me from keeping the car unless I can find a solution. I do not have the money to replace it with another BMW, so would like to find a solution if it exists.

When I removed some of the factory toe-in in the front alignment (from about 0.15 degrees to near zero) it did lighten the steering feel at speed, and it has some effect at low speed as well. You will need to find an alignment shop willing to go beyond the factory spec to try this.

I'd bet that taking away enough toe-in to feel any difference would be $125.00+ flushed. Even if it did lighten steering slightly(while the car was rolling) it would be at the expense of more rapid inner tread wear and less steering response.
I think you are stuck with it.

Archimedes of Syracuse to the rescue. A larger radius steering wheel will require less force (which is why steering wheels were bigger back in the rack-and-pinion days).
Reducing the width of the front tires will also help.

Is it possible the PS controller can be reprogrammed? It's got variable rate, so might that be adjusted? Wish I could help, I've got lots of nerve damage, with neck surgeries, so I can relate.
