Mixing 17" and 18" on Different Wheel Axles
Howdy!
The plate moulded to the body (close to the threshold) has a list of acceptable rim combinations supported by X1. It says as if it is acceptable to install 17" rims as the fore wheel and 18" rims as the rear wheels. Correct? Would it be acceptable to install 7.5J17 5x120 ET34 Dia72.6 (for 17") on the fore axle and 18" (I wonder what could be the sizes, 8J18 5x120 ET47 Dia72.6?) on the rear axle? TIA. I would say definatly not, if its a x-drive the different sized wheel would play havoc with the transmission (when you put new tyres on, your recommended to change all 4 for this reason).
As for the s-drive, I'd think it may upset the ABS/ Traction control. Just my thoughts, someone who knows what they're talking about will be along shortly. Mike |

Thanks, Mike. I definitely confused the width (7.5x17" and 8x18") with size. I think the plate is suggesting the wider rims for rear wheels.
Yeah, I'd better stick to various width or just stay with 7.5x17. Would 8x17 fit here? |
