23 Fuel Economy

I picked up my 23 and have about 250 km on it. Around town, very short trips 9.5 l/100, on the highway 105kmh, 6.6 l/100.
I thought it might me a bit better than that; however it is brand new and probably a bit tight.
Any numbers from other people with 23s?
By the way, love the car, engine pulls like a train. Heaps more torque and also feels quicker off the mark than my 325i.

I also can't seem to get below 10L in city driving, 6L in highway.
(And I consider myself to be quite an "eco-driver" in regular driving)

There are a few people who state they can get much better mileages - any special tips for fuel-saving driving on the 23d?

Mine is "just" a 20Xdrive, but i am kind of surprised on the consumtion in a negative way. iit drink 7,4l/100, then i changed the air filter to KN, now its 6,9l/100 (80% freeway 20% city) i´m not Eco driver at all, but i thourght it will be better then that. I just had a 320D today with the same engine it was 5,6l/100 sama kind of driving.

It is the Xdrive construction that are the main reson, and the high front, if you want to hit the 5,8l/100 mixed you will have to keep it under 100 km/h on the freeway an be vere gentle on the gas and stil do like 80% freeway 20% city, but thats not me.

I´m happy with it anyway :-)

What is a KN air filter?

I also have a x20d and have exactly the same 7.4 l/100km after 16,000 km. Driving is largely 80 % freeway at average 100km. My average speed on the computer is 49.0 km/h. I also have the large 18" wheels which I'm sure impacts the economy somewhat.

Whilst I'm very happy I'm interested in the air filter you mentioned, can you provide more information.

thanks

My 23d only has 1200kms. I am getting 9.2L/100km in the city (av speed = 32km/h). Ive been quite gentle on it so I have no idea where the quoted 7.8L/100 urban consumption figure comes from.

Even still, 9.2 is pretty good from a 1600+kg car with full time drive to all 4 wheels an auto box and capable of 0-100 in low 7's. The 123d auto I had temporarily was getting low 8's so Id say the xDrive and extra kg's are worth about 1L/100.

The K&N air filter sounds like an easy and worthwhile change...
