Yes in oregon - X1, X3 and X5 dominate the CUV segment here. Check out kunibmw.com - huge inventory

I have an 80mi 1-way commute in CT, and the only one I have seen in Western CT / MA was one with my dealers name on it. Looking forward to being one of the first.

Seen a handful in the Boston area. Just happened to park next to another one last weekend in the ski parking lot.

I test drove a loaner from a local dealer, it was the most stripped cheapest SDrive you could get, I'm sure it will not be uncommon for dealers to have them

Well, the X1 sDrive is the very cheapest BMW, so I guess it makes sense from a financial point of view, although it doesn't convey a sense that they value their customers highly...

I'm old enough to value service over savings, and would expect more, as part of the price they pay to get me to come back for my next purchase, and advertising for models I haven't tried yet.

If I were running a BMW Service Center, I would stock it with 328i and s28i X1s. Everyone can deal with light steering in a loaner. Not everyone can deal with heavy steering.

My dealer has mostly 328i loaners, they have just a few 128s and 335s (E90).

I saw one and it was within 2 miles of a dealership. It had owners plates on it, though, not dealer plates. I'm guessing the driver just recently got it since the driver had that 'happy face' on while driving (which he sucked at...). I'm actually guessing that the X1 won't sell as well in the US as it did overseas. There is still a lot of 'bigger is better' mentality and the X1 fits in above a wagon but not quite a compact-mid-size SUV.

Well, most of the ones sold overseas are the diesel models, which we don't get because Americans are largely ignorant about modern diesel fuel and engines.
Instead we get the rocket 35i, which is a total waste on most buyers in a country where people are more allergic to acceleration and hard braking than anywhere else in the world. A 900cc engine would be more than enough for the typical American driver who accelerates from 0-60 in two minutes (and then continues crawling up to 80 mph, and brags about getting a speeding ticket).
But face it, most of the BMWs on the road were bought to be seen cruising and to impress the neighbour, not to be driven.
I'm surprised that BMW haven't come out with an Amerikaner model with LED-backlit badges, super-soft suspension and wider seats, and extra and slurpee sized cup holders. Oh, and a gun rack for the TX/NM models.
