There are many factors that would impact tire rub.
Ride height, wheel width, offsets, tire width, alignment, load weight.

Are you keeping your stock wheels? What are you trying to achieve? Softer ride? Marginally larger contact patch for grip?

Check out www.willtheyfit.com or tiresnrims.com to do some comparisons.

I've got the stock 225/45/18 square setup. I've got some new pilot super sports from the M3 I sold: 245/40/18, and 265/40/18. I wondering if these will fit on the stock rims, and not cause any issues?

I think it depends on your rim specs like width, mounting flange type, etc.

And if you have an xdrive, I dont think that would be advisable since those wheels will have different overall diameter between the front and back.
Your front will have 637mm and back with 669mm. That's about 1¼ inch of difference.

Yes, I have an X drive. Here is a picture of the rims, in case that helps:

Not really, no. You could smash the rears on, but I wouldn't.

Those are only 8" wheels. So that 245 will fit, but the 265 is just too large.

If you had an MSport, you could track down a pair of rear 9" wheels that match (from a car that came staggered), but I don't believe the style of wheel you posted came with an option 9" rear.

Like what prematureapex mentioned above, the 8" could be a bit small for the 265.

But I think the bigger issue here is the difference in overall diameter. Which many believe could hurt your transfer case in a long run.
