Out of warranty and dealer service agreements (DSA)
Anyone heard of these? My car is beyond standard warranty and my door speaker failed. It was replaced under warranty late last year. Dealer said it might be able to replace the speaker and possibly amplifier when they have cap space under the DSA. Is this legit or is the dealer misrepresenting and covering their backsides. They said BMW corporation has nothing to do with DSAs.

Just FYI, replacing the speaker is really easy if you have a panel remover tool.

Not certain if crossover in BMW amp is routing deep bass signals to door speaker causing failure. I heard BAV rocks though. I want to see if the amp/crossover is bad.

No idea why your speakers keep blowing. Wouldn't suspect a bad amp, but who knows. If dealer can test everything, let them. If the dealer gives you a hard time and you just want to replace the speaker, shoot me a PM. I'll send you an old one for the cost of fedex shipping and a beer, say $20. I like good beer. Heck, I'll even send 2.
The BavSound Stage 1 upgrade is worth every penny. Love it. |
