Instead of air or nitrogen...

would Helium make any difference to use for tire inflation? Would you be able to notice any weight reduction? just a passing thought.

No. It would be mere ounces lighter, more expensive, and perhaps most importantly, helium molecules are smaller than those of nitrogen or air, and will thus leak out quicker.

I dunno about that... 36 lbs is 36 lbs, whether air, nitrogen, helium or sand.

Errrrrr......no. Volumetric pressure is different than weight.

Fail, terrible fail. You didn't happen to write the rules for the NFL and their football inflation?

Quote:
The ball shall be made up of an inflated (12 1/2 to 13 1/2 pounds) urethane bladder enclosed in a pebbled grain, leather case (natural tan color) without any corrugations of any kind.
Gasses have different thermal properties. The biggest factor in using air is the amount of water. I fill my tires with scuba air which is very very dry compared most compressor air.

I read through your other posts and saw you weren't...well...someone who would post that seriously.

Glad no one has forgotten Tom Terrific and the ball thing.

What are we avoiding using something besides garden variety air? Less pressure change with temperature?
Admirable enough idea, but it seems a lot of trouble.
