Squealing metal on metal sound
My 2014 X1 35I has just turned 40k mi. Yesterday I started hearing a loud squeal from the right front suspension/brake area. Sometimes it gets louder if I turn to the left, other times it increases when I turn to the right. Usually when I hit the brakes it subsides. Does not appear dependent on speed. I tried disabling TC but nothing changed. Motor performance is unchanged, as is steering feel and braking. But the sound is terrible. Sounds like something lodged in the brake disc/ backing plate area. Any similar experiences? What were solutions? I'm unable to take wheels off until I get home (about 100 mi.).

check that brake shield plate on the inner side of the wheel. My 428 had that happen on the rear brakes but it only made a noise intermittently. Maybe you hit a rock or something and bent that plate toward the brake disk
