Halo LED Bulb Upgrade Kit

Hi All
Haven't taken delivery of my new X1 yet but was thinking of upgrading the Halo lights with an LED bulb Kit.
I have ordered the xenon headlights on the car but don't know the side light part number? Can any one tell me what the halo bulb part number is?

Hi William, Not sure I understand your question You say you have ordered the car with xenons which are the bees knees and come with the daytime running light "angel eye" rings. Where do you want to fit LED's?

Hi Mario
I think the halo rings use an H8 35W bulb but not sure, this can be replaced with an LED bulb which will give a whiter light.

OK, did not know that. Is it a aftermarket product? Let me know when you find out.

Hi Mario
New X1 XDrive 1.8d SE delivered on Friday and have purchased and fitted LED replacement
H8 halo bulbs, what a difference they are as white as the xenon headlights, well worth the £62.50 I payed for them.
Will post a picture of them when I get the time.

Hello,

Looks very nice !
Will these lamps fit also if you have ordered non-Xenon option ?
Or can you exchange them only on Xenon X1 ?

thanks

Open the bonnet unclip the large headlamp plastic cover the H8 bulb is at the top, twist and remove from the headlight then remove the wire from the socket , fit resister wire to the socket you removed the bulb from, just push together the LED V shape bulb and insert into headlight, when you twist in the LED it lines up with the marker lights then attach the wire from the LED bulb to the resistor wire and Bobs your Uncle. I used a small cable tie to attach the resistor to the wires to stop ir rattling around.
It took me about half an hour to complete both sides

Is that this particular one?
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/bmw-led...-x5-p-307.html

It doesn't specifically mention the e84, however looks the same as the one you've posted there.

I presume that doesn't invalidate any warranties etc?

I do like the look - don't understand why BMW don't make this standard - especially considering Audi, heck even KIA, all now have LED running lights.

Halo lights with an LED bulb Kit.

Hello William

Does this LED replacement kit only works when you have factory Xenon headlights or will this work with standard (Halo) headlights. Have X1 28i with non xenon headlights and like to know. Your headlights now really look awesome !!! Thanks for yr reply VBR|Loek the duthie

Hi
All I know it is a replacement for the H8 35W daytime running lights / Sidelights, if the STD headlights use an H8 bulb for the halo's then this LED bulb will fit.
I asked my BMW dealer about any warranty issues and the answer was No it will not effect the warranty but if one of the LED units should stop working it's up to me to replace it, as they would only fit the STD H8 bulb.
I think in time BMW will get around to fitting LED bulbs as standard, they should because they last longer use less power and produce a bright white light.
Regards

Hi WilliamT, I've just bought the same kit to upgrade my lights, can you tell me if you adjusted the rotation of the base on the LED unit, looking at the instructions provided it seems to suggest that some BMW models might need this to be done? Is it fairly obvious how the chip LED's should line up in the unit when fitted??

Thanks for your help.
